The colour fastness properties of the stem of Achras sapota dyed on cotton were studied using combination of mordants such as myrobolan :nickel sulphate, myrobolan : aluminium sulphate, myrobolan : potassium dichromate, myrobolan : ferrous sulphate, and myrobolan : stannous chloride in the ratio of 1:3, 1:1 and 3:1. The washing, rubbing, light and perspiration fastness of the dyed samples were evaluated giving fair to excellent fastness grades.Keywords

Eco-friendliness is one of the priority concerned in the textile industry where natural dyes can be used instead of synthetic dyes. The present study deals with an attempt which has been made to obtain dye extract from the stem of Achras sapota. Conventionally bleached cotton and silk fabrics have been subjected to pre, post and simultaneous mordanting with selective mordants using myrobolan (harda) and other mordants (metallic salts) followed by dyeing with ethanol extract of stem of Achras sapota. It is observed that the application of 3 per cent of Al2(SO4)3 and 3 per cent of FeSO4 have been identified as two better prospective mordanting system. The study on the effect of dyeing process variables on surface colour strength indicates that the 60 min. dyeing time, 60°C dyeing temperature, 1:20 material-to-liquor ratio, 3 per cent mordant concentration, 5 per cent dye concentration and 5g l-1 common salt are the optimum values with minor differences among the different fibre- mordant system studied. This study also includes the comparison of mordanting techniques as well as dying properties and visualizes the effect of myrobolan and metallic mordants. Colour fastnesses to washing, rubbing, light fastness and perspiration of cotton and silk fabrics dyed with and without mordants have also been studied.Keywords

Presently arc welded structures are extensively used in automobiles, constructions and power plants. As the main cause of weldment failure is design defect and overload, it is necessary to analyze the maximum stresses in the weldment. This work deals with investigation of welded T-joint by Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding process with varying gap and angle between the parent materials to determine the breaking stress under tensile load in the weldment. Finite element analysis is carried out using Ansys software and results are compared with experimental analysis using Taguchi optimization method. Angle, arc force and gap between parent materials are used for the Taguchi optimization technique. The optimized fillet weld section (low carbon steel AISI1020 and copper) is arrived by restricting the weldment failure.Keywords

Objective: A hybrid converter system gives a continuous power flow across load and designed for a high power and high voltage application. Methods: The proposed paper introduces a hybrid Cuk-SWISS converter system for photovoltaic and AC-grid interface system. The aim of hybrid converter topology is to generate a high voltage and power generation for applying industrial high power application. Photovoltaic system is used as secondary power source of the proposed hybrid converter whereas, the primary power sources are applied through AC-grid power supply. Findings: Cuk converter system is used to integrate photovoltaic power to hybrid scheme, whereas SWISS Converter is integrated for AC-grid power to hybrid converter scheme. Those two converter are connected internally for purpose of reducing reverse recovery problem and to provide same and simultaneous power supply regulation across the load. Power factor correction and control of grid current is drawn by SWISS converter whereas leading of current regulation and high voltage generation using low range of passive elements is drawn by Cuk converter. The performance of high voltage and high power conversion is verified using MATLAB/Simulink Results. Improvement: Proposed Hybrid converter system is an integrated form of AC/DC-DC conversion topology which helps in controlling the load current and improves voltage over single converter topology.Keywords
